Health Care Academy

The American Health Care Academy (AHCA) is an interdisciplinary professional educational organization that offers public health policy and health care leadership education. Founded by the National Health Education Center, the Academy is designed to enhance public understanding of health-related issues. The mission of the Academy is to promote quality health care through continuing education and research. The Academy operates two strategic planning units: Service and Policy; and Public Health. The Service unit focuses on promoting community partnerships, expanding access to health training, and providing a voice for those in distress. The Policy unit trains leaders to advocate for policies that will reduce the burden on taxpayers while improving health care for all Americans. On the other hand, the Public Health unit promotes development of community based initiatives to deal with common health problems like preventing, treating and reducing disease.

One of the most popular courses offered at the Academy is CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This course is designed to train individuals for life-saving interventions and to enhance community responsibility in providing first aid. In this course, students learn how to administer oxygen as well as provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation to an emergency patient. Students also learn how to use an AED - Automatic External Defibrillator - to treat severe heart attacks and to defuse bomb-like devices used to save lives. The first aid course teaches students to handle and carry various types of first aid kits. These include eye-catching colored flashlights, universal first aid kits, and other items that can literally save a life.

The second major component of the Health Care Academy's curriculum is CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This course helps prepare students for all kinds of emergency situations, such as those that involve inhaling and exhaling of a patient who has stopped breathing. It also trains students to defuse situations where an adult is choking on their own vomit, is unconscious or suspended in midair and cannot breathe on their own. CPR courses are taught hands-on with the simulation using a CPR mouth-to-mouth device and the AED - Automatic External Defibrillator.

CPR courses are also taught by experts who have a lot of experience dealing with children. This is one of the most effective ways to stop a child from harm, but it can also be life saving for adults. This hands-on training gives students a realistic experience using a CPR mouth-to-mouth device while they are also taught strategies for teaching older children about the disease and its prevention. The course also includes discussions about teaching children about sex and reproductive health. This can be a valuable resource for families with young children.
